Dozens of hours spent trying to replicate a problem...and then it went away...on its own.
Not only is that a cost of >99.0%, but it's a cost of being proactive.
I wonder if anyone's computed how much time you chase smoke when you're trying to get above a certain level...or is it related to what the "float" level is (e.g. the hockey stick of response time).

I can relate. It's annoying when something "fixes itself". It makes you wonder if the problem will occur again and wonder what in the world could have caused it.
Hmm, in more way than one we share some similarities; also remember behind every joke is a nugget of truth.
But also, to prove your point, the problem started re-occuring after Christmas. While I have seen things completely go away (one burned in my mind is a "3 second line").
